Two men arrested for narcotics near Americana

Two Suffolk County men discovered at the Americana Manhasset were arrested on possession of narcotics Thursday evening, the Nassau County Police Department’s Sixth Squad reported.

According to detectives, while on an investigation at the Americana on Northern Boulevard, units discovered two men, Jihad Giles, 22, of 5 Duck Hill Road, Coram, and Tyreke Nottingham, 22, of 12 Croyden Road, Amityville, enter a running vehicle “that had a strong odor of marijuana.”

“Further investigation discovered the defendants were in possession of multiple narcotics, including a powdery substance believed to be heroin and a white substance believed to be cocaine,” police said in a statement. “Both subjects were taken into custody without incident.”

Both Giles and Nottingham are charged with five total counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance and are scheduled to be arraigned today.

“The efforts of the NCPD to ensure that our community remains safe for everyone, including all Americana visitors and employees, is greatly appreciated,” a spokesperson for the Americana said when reached for comment.
