Manor Oaks hosted the 8th annual Turkey Trot this year.
As always, this was spearheaded by Mrs. Santos, the physical education teacher. This event enables the students to get in the spirit of Thanksgiving and practice their giving hearts for others through the donation of canned foods to families in need.
Through this event, a spirit of generosity is generated in the children. In order to participate, each child has to donate a canned food item. The children learn that the holiday season is also about thinking of others, especially those who are less fortunate and can benefit from their donations.
Twenty families in need were blessed by the children’s donations. Some of the food also were donated to the food pantry at Notre Dame. This event also brings the school together for a time of entertaining activities, display of Thanksgiving-themed costumes, fun races and some friendly competition for prizes. Winners from the competitions are shown below.
