Train hits, kills man at New Hyde Park LIRR station

A train hit and killed a man at the New Hyde Park Long Island Railroad station Sunday afternoon.

The victim, whom early reports identified as an elderly white male, was struck by an express train at about 12:10 p.m. on Sunday, the MTA said.

The accident suspended LIRR service on the Oyster Bay, Ronkonkoma and Port Jefferson lines from 12:10 to 1:54 p.m., according to MTA spokesman Aaron Donovan.

MTA police are still investigating the incident to determine exact details and are currently unable to identify the man, Donovan said.
