Schreiber High School alumnus Carl Weber was honored on Tuesday by the Town of North Hempstead for his success in publishing and writing.

North Hempstead Town Supervisor Judi Bosworth and Town Councilwoman Dina De Giorgio, along with other members of the Town Board welcomed local author, publisher, and filmmaker Weber to the North Hempstead Town Hall

“Weber was presented with a proclamation from the town honoring him for all of his success in the publishing world,”  a release from the Town of North Hempstead said.

Weber graduated from Port Washington’s Schreiber High School, and “is considered one of the premiere African-American authors in the country,” according to the town.

As president and CEO of his own publication company, Urban Books LLC, Weber has published more than 2,500 hundred books and written 22 novels, 14 of which have become New York Times bestsellers. He also recently branched out into screen writing and his production company, Urban Books Media LLC, according to town.

Urban Books Media LLC has produced four films based on Weber’s books, “No More Mr. Nice Guy,” “The Choir Director,” “The Preacher’s Son,” and “The Man in 3B.”

At the presentation, Weber was joined by Jeffery Dumpson and Walter Nixon of Urban Books Media.
