Town of Hempstead Supervisor Don Clavin will partner once again with Northwell Health to deliver a virtual COVID-19 lecture with infectious diseases expert Dr. Bruce Farber and Dr. Sophia Jan on Sept 30 at 6:30 p.m.
The Northwell Health doctors will speak about the COVID-19 vaccine, its truths and misconceptions, the Delta variant, and which measures to take as schools reopen and students go back to in-person classes. Further on, the hour-long webinar will include time for participants to ask questions.
“From providing millions of dollars in federal CARES funding to hospitals, schools, food banks and community organizations to implementing testing and vaccination programs throughout our community, the Town of Hempstead has been on the front lines of the response to the COVID-19 pandemic from Day One,” said Clavin. “On behalf of the entire Hempstead Town Board, I am grateful to Northwell Health for continuing to provide invaluable resources and education regarding the COVID-19 virus, vaccines and other essential information.”

Farber is the Chief Public Health and Epidemiology Officer for Northwell Health. He is also currently Chief of the Division of Infectious Diseases and the Jane and Dayton Brown Professor of Medicine at Hofstra Northwell School of Medicine. He has authored over 50 peer-reviewed papers, edited a book on Infection Control, and has written dozens of abstracts and reviews.
Jan is the Chief of General Pediatrics at Cohen Children’s Medical Center. She is also an assistant professor at Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell and the Hofstra/Northwell School of Nursing.
