Arbor Day Family Festival at  The Planting Fields Arboretum

Saturday and Sunday, April 23 and April 24, 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

The 2016 Arbor Day Family Festival features live musical shows by the crowd’s favorites Peat Moss and the Fertilizers, performances by PLAY DATE, kid’s tree climb by Wonderland Tree Care, petting zoo, face painting, National Circus Project performances and workshops, TR Sanctuary, caricaturists, plant clinics, tree plantings with Smokey the Bear, FREE self-guided visits of Coe Hall. The festival is a collaborative effort between Planting Fields Foundation and the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation. Price: $20 per car load; once inside the park all activities are free. Rain or Shine.

Spring Break Nature Walks, Demos and Crafts

Saturday, April 23; Tuesday, April 26 – Friday, April 29

There’s so much to do and learn! Walk through spring woods and talk about plants, trees and animals, identify favorite birds and learn how to use binoculars, witness the power of moving water, or explore the shoreline for varied plants. In addition, your child can make a nature craft, a recycled bird house craft, a caterpillar craft, or a sand casting craft. Check the website for daily activites, times and pricing.

Spring Break for Art: Family Art Making Days 

Tuesday, April 26 – Thursday, April 28, 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

Three days of art making and gallery tours inspired by the colorful, imaginative art of Kenny Scharf. A different project will be offered every day. Thursday’s project will be inspired by Scharf’s sculptures as well as works in our out outdoor sculpture collection – be prepared to create art outside, rain or shine! Museum admission plus $10 per family materials fee, reservations not needed. Cost: Museum admission plus $10/family materials fee

Build a Boat Workshop

Monday, April 25 – Friday, April 29, 2:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Imagine, design and create your own wooden vessel.  All materials provided.  Hot glue guns used so adult supervision is required. $8 Hull + Admission. Members receive free admission. Not recommended for children under 4 years.

Adventureland Events 

Spring Break: Friday, April 22 through Sunday, May 1,  11:00 a.m. – 6:00 pm

A Special Night for Our Special Kids at Adventureland: Tuesday, April 26, 7:30 p.m. – 10:30 p.m.

Nassau Suffolk Services for Autism (NSSA) invites you to join for a night of family fun at Adventureland. Adventureland will be closed to the public for this event. That means individuals with autism, their families, and friends will have unlimited access to the entire park with very little waiting time. Best of all, the park will be filled with people who love, care for, and embrace the children. Rain date is Wednesday, April 27. Advanced bracelet $18 per person; $20 at the door.

Astronomy and Space Week

Monday, April 25 – Sunday, May 1, 12:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.

To celebrate the history of the Space Shuttle and National Astronomy & Space Week, come join us and learn about how the Space Shuttle contributed to space exploration! After exploring the museum’s Space Gallery with authentic pieces from the Space Shuttle, young visitors are invited over to the Family Activity Area to create their very own make-and-take Space Shuttle Craft! Take a walk through the Solar System to see some of the missions NASA has sent off Earth and leave a message for future explorers. Finally, young visitors can learn the new dance phenomenon sweeping the Nation, our Space Shuttle Shuffle! There are also interactive educator led programs in the Jet Blue Sky Theatre Planetarium (separate admission). Visit the website for further details, hours and pricing information.

Long Island Ducks Home Opener
