Guitarist and vocalist Godfrey Townsend and his band will perform a repertoire of music spanning over three decades of the much loved guitar legend Eric Clapton’s career — from the ‘60s rock anthem, “Sunshine of Your Love,” to 1996’s Grammy-winning “Change the World,” as well as all the classics along the way, including “Layla,” “I Shot the Sheriff,” “Lay Down Sally,” “Wonderful Tonight” and “Tears In Heaven.”

2 In a New Light: American Impressionism, 1870-1940

This exhibit offers a sweeping survey of American Impressionism, revealing the transformative influence of Impressionism on American art between the years of the Hudson River School — whose majestic landscapes influenced, and then gradually gave way to, French Impressionist–inspired works — and modernist trends of the early 20th century.

3 2019 Bethpage Air Show at Jones Beach
Saturday, May 25 and Sunday, May 26, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The 16th Annual Bethpage Air Show will feature the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds, the U.S. Army Golden Knights Parachute Team, and the U.S. Navy F-18 Super Hornet, as well as exciting civilian performers, extraordinary aerobatic pilots and, for the first time, four female pilots. The Air Show is free to the public, but there is a standard $10 vehicle fee.

4 ’Heirloom Kitchen’ with Anna Francese Gass

In “Heirloom Kitchen,” Anna Francese Gass brings together the stories and dishes of 40 women, all immigrants to the United States, whose heirloom recipes have helped shape the landscape of American food. Some of these women will be joining the author at this special, $35 ticketed event, which includes a copy of the book and a beverage (wine, beer, coffee, tea or soda) from the bookstore café.

5 Memorial Day Weekend Fireworks and Commemoration
Saturday, May 25 at 6 p.m.
This year’s Memorial Day ceremony will feature a fireworks display, musical entertainment from the Chicago tribute band Beginnings, the LPs playing songs from the ‘70s and ‘80s, and then a DJ. During the ceremony, a student from Schreiber High School will sing the National Anthem and the Albertson Cub Scouts will perform the Pledge of Allegiance.
