Creative Expeditions and Row for Autism

Saturday, April 14, 10 to 11:15 a.m. (museum event also on April 28, May 12 and 26, and June 9 and 16); Sunday, April 15, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (rowing event)

Creative Expeditions is a museum event that gives families a chance to witness their autistic child experience art in a supportive setting and join in art making activities that encourage experimentation and creative play. Free for spectators and families, the 7th Annual Row for Autism is a U.S. Rowing sanctioned rowing regatta with competitive races for junior and adult rowers and proceeds supporting autism advocacy and Port Rowing’s programs.

Children’s Carnival

Saturday, April 14 and Sunday, April 15, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The kids’ carnival in the farm orchard will include carnival rides, hayrides, midway games, and prizes. Food vendors will be on the farm all day. $15 for all ages (includes carnival rides); farm members are free.

Eat Up! What’s Cooking in the Gardens: Edible “Soil”

Children of all ages can discover tasty delights growing in these beautiful garden beds while they concoct and sample a simple recipe full of delicious seasonal flavors. Free with admission.

Children’s Theatre Production: “Seussical Jr.”

Transporting young audiences from the Jungle of Nool to the Circus McGurkus, the Cat in the Hat narrates the story of Horton the Elephant, who discovers a speck of dust containing tiny people called the Whos, in a tale about the powers of friendship, loyalty, family, and community. All seats: $15.

Go Fly a Kite!

Sunday, April 15 at 2 p.m.

Children ages 5 and up can celebrate National Kite Month by learning how to build a simple kite using easy-to-find materials and then test them up in the air. $4 with museum admission; $3 LICM members.
