On Friday evening, Feb. 28, Temple Judea invites members of the community to attend a special Shabbat service and buffet dinner to observe and celebrate “Shabbat Across America.”
This annual celebration starts with Shabbat services at 6:00 p.m. and follows with a buffet dinner at 7:00 p.m.
The original unity Shabbat program, “Shabbat Across America” connects synagogues and Jewish centers across the continent through one program run on the same Friday night. Focused around a special Shabbat meal and an explanatory service, Shabbat Across America and Canada were designed as the perfect opportunity to create a Shabbat event above and beyond the norm, where participating locations can open their doors and invite the local Jewish community in addition to their current membership.
The Temple Judea “Shabbat Across America” special program will begin at 6:00 pm with Shabbat services in which Rabbi Todd Chizner will include a description of the history and meaning of Shabbat Across America. A special buffet dinner catered by Mara’s Southern Kitchen which specializes in Southern cuisine will follow at 7:00 p.m.
The community is invited to this special event. Registration is required. The cost of the dinner is $18. Please RSVP to the Temple office at (516) 621-8049.
