Readers Write: Suozzi’s county finance claims untrue

The Island Now

Suozzi’s claim he left Nassau in great financial shape is false. He inherited a structural surplus of $12.5 million in 2001, but by 2008 he turned it into a $123.8 million structural gap.

When Suozzi left office in 2009, the county was up by $449.5 million.

Mangano borrowed over $2 billion in four years, kicking the can even further down the road. Haven’t we had enough of politicians who mortgage our future with massive debts, making it unaffordable to live in Nassau?

Adam Haber may be new to politics, but what he’s done with his last four years is impressive.

He joined the Roslyn school board after an $11.2 million theft, and advocated for new approaches to financial management. He pushed to refinance debt, consolidate bus routes, and renegotiate broadcast rights.

After finding ways to save money he found ways to make money.

Adam helped create a district credit card with NEFCU that donates 1 percent of all purchases back to a foundation to support our schools.

His ideas total about $10 million! Not bad for four years. Imagine what he could do as county executive.

Vote for Adam Haber at the Sept. 10 Democratic Primary. Nassau needs Adam Haber.
