In celebration of School Board Recognition Week, students from North High School and South High School attended the November Board meeting to recognize the trustees who volunteer their service on the Great Neck Public Schools Board of Education.

North High School students Kelly Chau, Natascha Hakim, Oliver Pour, and Joshua Wigler presented a custom “GNPSopoly” board to each member of the Board of Education.

Modeled after the Monopoly board game, the framed GNPSopoly board features properties named after GNPS schools, annual activities, and successful initiatives.

South High School students Hyeonsu (Helen) Ji and Jingchen (James) Jian recited an original poem and gave copies to each Board member.

The poem, which also had a board game theme, communicated the students’ appreciation to the Board members for their efforts.

School Board Recognition Week is sponsored by the New York State School Boards Association to recognize school board members for their commitment to New York public school children. In conjunction with the annual Recognition, the Great Neck Public Schools Board of Education is traditionally honored by students.
