The state Police Benevolent Association has endorsed state Sen. Jack Martins (R-Mineola) in his re-election campaign for the 7th state Senate District.

“It is very important to the members of the Police Benevolent Association of New York State and the residents of Nassau County that Senator Jack Martins is reelected to continue his work in Albany,” state Police Benevolent Association President and State Park Police Director Manny Vilar said. “Jack plays an integral part in helping first responders – particularly law enforcement officers – provide the high level of service so deserving of the residents of the 7th Senate District. The Police Benevolent Association of New York State proudly endorses incumbent Senator Jack Martins.”

State Police Benevolent Association officials said in a statement that the decision was made based on face-to-face interviews, questionnaires and Martins’ support of legislation and issues considered important to the association’s members.

The state Police Benevolent Association represents officers within the State University of New York system, the New York State Environmental Conservation Police, the New York State Park Police and the New York State Forest Rangers.

“I want to thank the Police Benevolent Association of New York State for their endorsement. The men and women of the Police Benevolent Association of New York State are woven in to the fabric of Nassau County and the rest of the state,” Martins said. “Their dedication and commitment to protect our families and communities 365 days a year allows us to enjoy this great state. We should always remember first responders, like the Police Benevolent Association of New York State, are there whenever they are needed and always prepared to jump into action at a moment’s notice. I am grateful for their endorsement and look forward to continuing to work with them as we continue to make New York the greatest state.”

The 7th state Senate district includes Mineola, Roslyn, Westbury, New Hyde Park, Williston Park, Garden City Park, Manhasset, Great Neck, Port Washington and parts of Floral Park, Franklin Square, Elmont, Valley Stream, Carle Place and Hicksville.

Martins in mid August also received the endorsement of the New York League of Conservation Voters, an environmental organization.
