Six Roslyn HS seniors receive national honor

The Island Now

Six Roslyn High School seniors were recognized in this year’s National Merit Scholarship Program. These students are among 16,000 nationwide recognized as semifinalists in the National Merit Scholarship, National Achievement Scholarship, and National Hispanic Recognition Programs, representing less than 1 percent of U.S. high school seniors.  About 1.5 million juniors in about 22,000 U.S. high schools entered the 2014 National Merit Program by taking the 2012 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. These high school seniors have an opportunity to continue in the competition for some 8,000 merit scholarship awards worth about $35 million that will be offered next spring.
