The Port Washington Union Free School District congratulated Paul D. Schreiber High School student Jamie Levin for being selected by the New York State Public Health Association to present her research findings at the 69th annual leading-edge public health conference in May 2019.
“We are very proud of Jamie for her commitment and diligence to her scientific research,” said Kathleen Mooney, Superintendent of Port Washington Union Free School District. “She is a very intelligent young woman with a bright future. The district wishes her well in her upcoming presentation.”
After submitting her abstract and project goals to a board of reviewers at the New York State Public Health Association, Levin was selected as the only high school student in New York to be invited to present her findings at the 2019 NYSPHA Conference. At Greek Peak Resort in Cortland, Levin will discuss the findings of her project—The Relationship Between Maternal Age and Race and Offspring Psychiatric Outcomes of Bipolar and Schizophrenia Illness: A Case-Control Analysis In Urban Populations of African American and European Caucasian Descent—before hundreds of public health educators, county health officials, medical and dental practitioners, and other individuals who share a common interest of promoting and protecting the public’s health. The event will take place on May 2 and May 3.
Jamie’s achievement further demonstrates the incredible talent and work ethic involved in all facets of Paul D. Schreiber High School’s research program. Among the accomplished faculty members throughout the district, Elizabeth Thomas, a social science research teacher at Paul D. Schreiber, plays a significant role in encouraging the outstanding young minds of the district’s research students.
