The Manhasset-based after-school enrichment program School Masters will hold fall open house events on Aug. 15 and 29 at its facility within the former Quaker meeting house.

The events will tentatively run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and feature student demonstrations and a meet-and-greet with program teachers in science, math, reading comprehension, music and foreign language.

Another open house is being planned for September.

School Masters is run by Flower Hill village resident Marina Terentieva, who emigrated to the United States in 1994 and previously taught English in her native Russia.

The program previously operated out of Glen Head, but for the last two years has utilized the Quaker meeting house adjacent to the Manhasset Public Library on Northern Boulevard.

In the coming years, School Masters plans to expand to include literature classes and a day-care program, said Robert Amato, a friend of Terentieva’s who has also sought the support of businesses within the Manhasset community, namely Lord & Taylor and Staples, for the program’s initiatives.

Amato said School Masters is finalizing plans to open satellite locations at ASA College in New York City as well as in Queens, and is looking to hold a “celebration of Russian literature” event in Manhasset sometime this fall.

He said School Masters is also searching for a new Long Island location in the “Manhasset-Port Washington area,” to replace the Quaker meeting house, due to high demand and a growing curriculum.

“Next door is too constrained, but it was a great introduction to the community, and we’d certainly like to stay,” Amato said.
