Village of Roslyn Estates trustees approved a $179,602 2015 contract for fire protection services from the Roslyn Fire Companies, which is comprised of the Roslyn Rescue and Roslyn Highlands fire departments.

The contract represents a 1.6 percent increase from the $176,693 figure approved in 2014, officials said.

Under the contract, the village will be obligated to pay $10,960.25 toward the Length of Service Award Program, which officials said serves as a pension-like program for volunteer firefighters.

In other developments:

• Village Clerk Bryan Rivera said the village’s garbage collection contract would be going out for bid in the coming weeks.

Roslyn Estates last implemented a one-year contract three years ago with Meadow Carting, then agreed to a two-year extension with the company.

• The board introduced a local law to set up to three alternates to its five-member planning board.

Rivera said the board of trustees would like to appoint two alternates once if the law is approved.

The planning board currently does not have any alternate members.
