Police are investigating two North New Hyde Park bank robberies that occurred less than a week apart.

A robber described as a white man entered the Valley National Bank at 699 Hillside Ave. at 4:38 p.m. Monday and gave the teller a note demanding money, police said.

The teller gave the man, whose face was covered with a dark grey scarf, an unknown amount of money, police said, and he fled on foot eastbound on Hillside Avenue. Police said there were five employees in the bank, but no one was hurt.

The suspect was described as having a medium build, about 6-foot-1 and was also wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt, black baseball cap, black cargo pants and black shoes, police said.

A Valley National Bank spokesman declined to comment.

Police are also searching a pair of men whom they say robbed a Chase bank Jan. 28.

The robbers entered the branch at 2335 New Hyde Park Road with their faces covered at 8:39 a.m. that day, police said.

One stayed by the door while the other approached the counter showing a gun in his waistband, took out a black bag and demanded an employee to fill it with money.

The suspects then fled the shopping center in a gray four-door vehicle, police said. Three employees and two customers were in the bank during the robbery, police said, but no one was hurt.

Police said the robber who stayed by the door was described as 5-foot-8, 170 pounds and wearing a green mask, dark jeans, a dark jacket, a light-colored hooded sweatshirt and black and white dotted gloves.

The man who approached the counter was described as 6 feet tall, 175 pounds and wearing a black cloth over his face, dark-colored jeans and sneakers, and a dark hooded sweatshirt under a camouflage jacket.

A Chase employee declined to comment Thursday, and phone calls placed to a Chase spokesperson were not answered.

Police arrested Joseph Mancuso, 43, of Bohemia, Jan. 26 in connection with a July 10, 2015 robbery at the Hillside Avenue Valley National Bank Branch. He pleaded not guilty to second-degree robbery last week.
