New Hyde Park Road School fifth-graders, as well as students in Mrs. Hazelton’s class, virtually visited the Nassau County Museum of Art in Roslyn Harbor on April 8, April 13 and April 15. Organized by art teacher Sharon Rebecchi, the virtual field trips were held on Google Meet.
The museum’s manager of school programs Rebecca Hirschwerk led the program. She began the virtual field trip by sharing an exterior photo of the museum and discussing how it used to serve as a mansion for the Frick family.
Then, the students examined works of art made by women in the exhibit, “Heroines of Abstract Expressionism and FEM.”Hirschwerk asked the students to share what they were seeing, feeling and thinking when looking at the various artwork.
