Evidence of the long-awaited restoration of Roslyn High School’s Horse Tamer statue appeared in September with the construction of a new foundation for the pedestal of the statue. North Shore Monuments has undertaken the restoration of the life-size marble sculpture, which stood in front of Roslyn High School for half a century. Funds have been raised by Friends of the Horse Tamer, an organization of Roslyn alumni and residents that spearheaded the drive, which includes private contributions and grants from the Gerry Trust and Nassau County. The sculpture’s return to the circle in front of the high school is anticipated in 2019.
