Responsible party makes irresponsible claims

The Island Now

It is dismaying to see our lovely community being cast into the shadow of hate, false accusations and avarice.

As a long-term resident of the Village of Kings Point, I have never seen such a negative campaign to gain power in our little village. Everyone one of us who lives here, should be thankful be able to live in such a beautifully maintained, serene safe community.

Look around, we are a diverse group of people and have lived together peacefully all of these years.

Perhaps some people would like to chance our future as they flex their own power to lead. Sowing discord among your neighbors is not the way to move forward in a democracy.

Please, articulate what it is that you would specifically do? So far, all I have read or heard have been veiled answers and unrealistic claims.

My home has been assaulted by unwanted unsolicited hate mail from a group that calls themselves Kings Point Responsible Government Party. I did not invite them to invade my privacy and fill my home with their message of hate and lies. I wish I knew how to make them stop sending their mail to me. They are relentless.

Michael Kalnick has been democratically elected time and again because he has been delivering the highest level of service to our residents. He is completely honest and accessible. Anyone who has comment, complaint or suggestion regarding the running of the village, knows that they can speak with him. My calls are always answered, my questions at meetings are given respect and thoughtful regard.

Government is the system by which a nation, state or community is governed. The very nature of a democratic government exists as a system in which individuals give a portion of their freedom in order to pursue needs and wants without the fears that are inherent in a state of anarchy.

I urge all Kings Point residents to get out and vote on June 19 to re-elect Mayor Michael Kalnick, Trustee Sheldon Kwiat and Trustee David Haroounian.

The very least that they have done is to run a clean and positive campaign. The most is that our village has continued to exist all these years as a village of safety and beauty with no shortage of people desiring to share these aspects of residential life.
