The whole community is invited to the unveiling party for Resident Forward’s latest mural on Main Street located on Baltimore Design Center’s wall on the corner of Main and North Maryland Avenue.
Taking place Sunday, November 10 at 3:00 p.m., the festivities will include live music by the Front Porch Players, light food and fun activities for the kids.
The new mural design was selected from a bevy of local contest entries who were asked to come up with an idea that centered on Port Washington’s rich history. A selection committee of artists and Port Washington historians blindly and unanimously chose Town Crier.
“We had many amazing submissions. Ultimately, the concept by Diane Luger Moen was chosen as it does an incredible job of providing a timeline of Port’s rich history in a beautiful, unique and fun-to-read way,” said Residents Forward President Betsy Liegey. “The selection committee felt it would be enjoyed & appreciated by adults and children alike.”
Town Crier is the fourth installation of Resident Forward’s Mural Project, which was started with the intent of bringing more vibrancy and foot traffic to Port Washington’s Main Street. “The Post Card Mural” and “Sunset Mural” are located at the top of Main Street, “Remembering the Unforgettable Mural”is on the wall of Delux Transporation. Along with the murals, Residents Forward has added planters and gardens along the street and other locations in Port Washington.
Residents Forward is especially grateful to the mural’s Presenting Sponsor HEARTS (Helping Enrich the Arts in Port Washington), funded largely by Damon and Rachelle Gersh.HEARTS proudly gave an award for the mural’s winning design. “The arts are a reflection of who we are, where we come from and where we are going as a community. This mural project accomplishes that goal while adding an original creative asset that engenders community pride and recognition of the positive role the arts can play in our daily life,” stated HEARTS Founder Damon Gersh. “We’re proud to be a part of it and encourage others in the community to get involved and join us in supporting, promoting and enriching the arts in Port Washington,” Gersh continued.
