Readers Write: Putin, Lenin, Trotsky & Trumpsky… and then some

The Island Now

As a citizen of the United States, I am very concerned about what is happening to our great country.

Let me begin with the Russian situation.

In addition to Putin, others who have made Russia a powerful enemy of the United States are Lenin, Trotsky and Trumpsky.

That’s right!

I’m talking about the Donald, who if left unchecked, is on his way to destroying America.

When was the last time you heard of the possibility that the president of the United States was cavorting with the enemy?

There is no doubt that Russia interfered with our elections and that interference is like the Japanese attacking Pearl Harbor.

It is an Act of War and the president of the United States is supposed to defend our nation against war. Not support the enemy.

How should all our servicemen and servicewomen who fought in wars feel about the president’s position?

How about the mothers and fathers who lost their sons and daughters in war. How should they feel about his taking the side of the enemy?

Is it asking too much for investigators to at least get to the truth?

If Mr. Trump is, in fact, innocent, shouldn’t he welcome the investigation?

If not, then for sure he is guilty of treason!

As a matter of fact, Congress should also want to get to the truth.

But we now see that our so-called representatives who support the president are more interested in maintaining their own jobs and power than to get to the truth.

Welcome to the new America. From a business point of view, a Trump viewpoint, America is now in the process of becoming a subsidiary of Russia.

So what else is new? How about the Supreme Court nomination of Brett Kavanaugh?

I read somewhere that “thou shall not commit adultery.” I assume that also means that “thou shall not commit rape or sexual assault.”

As Americans, we’re showing that we really don’t care. Look what we have.

The most prestigious position in America, if not the world, is held by an admitted adulterer.

Doesn’t this set a fine example for the youth of America. And let’s throw in a judge who is accused of sexual assault of a minor.

How about asking the opinion of an independent party how he would feel if someone had done that to his wife when she was fifteen years old.

Mike Pence. Where are you? Please check this out with your wife.

Do you want a bottom line? There is no doubt that Donald Trump has brought his reality television show to the level of reality.

As for the morality of the Evangelicals, they have shown that can be set aside for one of their other wants. “I want Roe v. Wade to be overturned.” Nothing else matters.

Let children be born so that they can be raped or sexually assaulted and allow the offender to get away with it if they are lucky enough to appear before a certain judge.

Of course, that’s a bit extreme. Realistically, in America, We the People should have choice.

If a woman becomes pregnant, especially when very young, and either is in no position to care for the child or already is the mother of many or simply prefers not to go through with it, that should be their choice.

On the other hand, how would the Evangelical community feel if a law was passed that stated they should not be allowed to go to the church of their choice, but to one as dictated by their government.

I really should not have brought this up. It might give Trump and his supporters an idea to use.

In the United States, most churches are located on valuable properties, and if taken over by private interests, they could be converted to profitable real estate ventures.

Let’s hear it for capitalism.

As for the Kavanaugh situation, like Trump, if he is innocent, let the evidence prevail.

The FBI was founded in 1908 and the CIA was established in 1947. Both highly esteemed and respected agencies have defended our country against criminals and our most devious enemies.

The only possible reason that they are being maliciously attacked by Trump, a multi-casino owner, is simply because he wants to avoid a lifetime in prison if, in fact, he did collude with the Russians.

Allow me to conclude on the topic of transparency, one that Mr. Trump claims he so solidly supports.

Let’s focus on the transparency, or lack of, regarding his federal income tax returns that he refuses to turn over because, as he clams, they are under audit.

Those apply to previous years. For the year 2017, his first year that he served as president of the United States, he still was required to file a federal income tax return for that year and shouldn’t We the People be able to see it.

Although the original due date was April 15, 2018, there is no doubt an extension was filed that gave him six months more to file.

That due date is now Monday, October 15, 2018.

Therefore, on Tuesday, October 16, 2018, a copy of Trump’s 2018 Federal Income Tax Return should be made available to the public, since we know that it is currently NOT under audit by the IRS.

By examining the tax return, we can see if the Office of the President was used in any way to benefit him, his family members, friends and or associates.

Gavel sounds. Case closed! Or is it?
