Readers Write: Mourning a firefighter taken too soon

The Island Now

The Harlem fire on Friday had killed one of our Bravest of the FDNY and a true hero to those who knew him.

Firefighter Michael Davidson was such a hero in every sense of the word. He was a member of Engine company #69 as well as his retired father was and has a brother who his still serving in the FDNY as well.

As reported Michael Davidson was a dedicated firefighter and according to Daniel Nigro, fire commissioner, he was cited for bravery four times in the last 15 years.

Michael is also a dedicated and proud family man to his wife and four children. His neighbors in Floral Park said, he did what he could for his neighbors and that also included snow removal. At 37 years old he died too soon.

My question is why the good died so young?

We now mourn another one of our Bravest, who did his best to protect the citizens of this great city of ours. I believe it takes a special man or woman to enter a burning building to save lives. And Michael Davidson was such a person.

My heartfelt prayers go out to his precious family, friends, neighbors, and fellow firefighters who are grieving so now. Firefighter Michael Davidson may you rest in peace for all that you have done and have meant so much to others who have depended on you.

May God bless you, for you will not be forgotten!
