Readers Write: Leonard Katz an inspiration to many in the Great Neck community

The Island Now

I have been a resident of Great Neck Plaza for the last 17 years and a member of The Rotary Club of Great Neck as well. Our motto is “service above self.” There is no finer example of those words than Leonard Katz.

When I was a new Rotarian, Leonard, as the president of the club was a prime sample and example of the best inner qualities one could possibly embody and I felt it to be a real genuine honor and privilege to work with him under his guidance and leadership.

For both myself and the other members, he showed extraordinary leadership skills, always putting others before himself, showing the greatest respect to one and all with humility and dignity, not to be overshadowed by his commitment to making the Great Neck Community a better place through his tireless efforts to help support local organizations, nonprofits, and charities while inspiring many others to do the same.

When I heard that Leonard was running for Mayor of Great Neck Plaza, I could think of no better choice knowing that he is always “Walking His Talk” of being a true servant—a leader who wants nothing but the best for those he serves, along with possessing the inner strength and wisdom to make the hard but needed choices for his community.

Leonard has also been a personal role model in helping me to become the best I can be and he still does to this very day. I consider myself extremely fortunate to call him my friend knowing he is just a phone call away if ever needed.

Join me in helping Leonard Katz become the next Mayor of Great Neck Plaza and you will learn as I have what “service above self” really means.

Vote for Leonard and his team on March 18. I wish him all the best, and that is what he will be for you.
