Readers Write: Kaplan not a common-sense Democrat

The Island Now

I take note that Anna Kaplan has resurfaced, this time to challenge state Sen. Elaine Phillips, who, as Jack Martins before her, has served us well.

I remind voters that Anna is not a common-sense Democrat a la Suozzi.

Rather, she is of the yellow-dog variety who engaged me and many other locals in her defense of Obama’s policies in relation to Israel and his Iran surrender policy.

She condemned persons exercising their free speech (and paid membership rights) to applaud then-candidate Trump’s anti-Obama’s flubbed Mideast policy remarks at AIPAC. She did this to curry Democratic leftist primary favor (against Suozzi, who thankfully defeated her in the race for our Congressional seat).

She is insincere. It did not work. Judi Bosworth, Andrew Cuomo and others would do well to keep their distance from her candidacy.

Further, strengthened one-party control of state government will absolutely guarantee increased state and local taxation.

New York is best served by divided government.
