Readers Write: In praise of Williston Times, Mitchell Flachner for E.W. village justice

The Island Now

I write to thank you for your continued, extensive coverage of Nassau County’s hyper-local elections.

During this time of unprecedented anxiety and uncertainty, it’s easy for small-town races to be overlooked, but they are so, so important in our day-to-day lives, and in ensuring that our communities – our homes where we’re raising our families and putting down roots–remain safe and strong.

I have greatly appreciated the coverage of the race for Village Justice in my town of East Williston. I am supporting Mitchell Flachner, a dedicated, compassionate candidate eager for the opportunity to give something back to the community that has given him and his beautiful young family so much.

Even with all of his extensive experience in a variety of areas of the law, it takes courage to throw one’s hat in the ring and vie for the support of friends and neighbors, and to see our local paper ensure that his voice and position are heard means a lot.

The power of the press is real; without these opportunities, it would be impossible for Long Island residents like Mitch to dream big, give back, and grow into the wonderful public servants that they’re meant to be. That would be a shame for all of us – so thank you.

Keep it up! And I hope everyone votes in their local elections (and if you’re in East Williston, please consider Mitchell Flachner!).
