Readers Write: In local elections, vote local interests

The Island Now

This November, voters in the Town of North Hempstead will go to the polls with important choices to make.

At the top of the Democratic ticket is Supervisor Judi Bosworth, she is followed by Receiver of Taxes Charles Berman, Council Members Peter Zuckerman and Veronica Lurvey, and Mariann Dalimonte.

Veronica Lurvey and Mariann Dalimonte, who are running in Districts 4 and 6, respectively, are both first-time candidates.

District 4 is represented by Councilwoman Veronica Lurvey, who was unanimously appointed after state Sen. Anna Kaplan won her election.

Councilwoman Lurvey has accomplished so much since she’s been in office. She has worked with residents on many issues including parking, utilities, and community center services while holding the line on the town budget.

As a native of the North Shore, a leader in the community, and a skilled negotiator working on multi-billion-dollar contracts as an attorney, Veronica has community values, experience, and leadership to get the job done.

In District 6, Democrat Mariann Dalimonte is challenging the incumbent. Mariann is a 4th generation Port Washington resident and a fixture in the community.

Mariann’s background as Operations Director at Sony, her experience as the former Director of Development at Residents for a More Beautiful Port Washington (now Residents Forward), and her current position as executive director of the Port Washington BID, would make her a strong complement to Supervisor Bosworth.

Mariann will give residents in District 6 the open, transparent representation they deserve.

As a team, Judi Bosworth, Charles Berman, Peter Zuckerman, Veronica Lurvey, and Mariann Dalimonte will work together to continue to make our community an even more beautiful, welcoming, and flourishing place.

Working together, this team will help to reinvigorate our local government and revitalize our peninsulas. Voting for these candidates is the right choice.
