Does everyone realize that the Town of North Hempstead only stipulates, for construction of a garage, a three-foot setback from the property line?
I learned this when I found that the owners of the property behind me, on which the house and garden have been eliminated in pursuit of a larger house, had excavated to within 12 inches of my property line and had consequently shredded tree roots.
It’s clear that Great Neck has limited regard for its architectural heritage but I cannot believe that the community supports the wholesale desecration of neighborhood ecosystems.
I grew up in Great Neck and we used to care about the environment. Great Neck? Great Wasteland.
