Readers Write: Fairgrieve is dedicated to serving Mineola

The Island Now

I am writing to request your support for the election of Judge Scott Fairgrieve for the position of Mineola Village Justice.

Judge Scott Fairgrieve has served 20 years in the Nassau County District Court, during which time he has authored more than 300 decisions and earned the reputation of being fair and thorough. Prior to joining district court, he served as a general practice litigator on Long Island for 24 years.

Judge Scott Fairgrieve must retire as a Nassau County District Court Judge because of age limitations set by the New York State Constitution. There is no age limit for the part-time position of Mineola Village Justice. He has been extremely dedicated to the Mineola Community and the legal profession since I have known him for over 35 years.

Judge Scott Fairgrieve has proven himself an asset to the Nassau County District Court and the Long Island Community.

Co-founder, director, and volunteer for the Mineola Mustang Run, which had 25 successful years. This event benefitted the Mineola Fire Department, Mineola Junior Fire Department. Mineola Auxiliary Police, Mineola Volunteer Ambulance Corps, Mineola Athletic Association. Mineola School District, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts.

Other examples of his extremely dedicated service in a variety of positions: Acting County Court Judge since 2010, adjunct professor of business law at Long Island University, board member and speaker chairman of the County Seat Kiwanis, co-chairperson of Mineola Bicycle Safety Day, trustee of the Nassau County Historical Society and Mineola Historical Society, trustee of the village of Mineola for six terms and a public speaking advocate on the dangers of intoxicated driving, speeding, fake identification, and inappropriate internet use.

Please vote for Judge Scott Fairgrieve on Wednesday, March 18 at the Mineola Village Hall between 6 a.m. and 9 p.m. I know he has more to give and will be a benefit to our community.
