Readers Write: Cilluffo has earned re-election to park district

The Island Now

I have always loved our park district, but I was beginning to think it was getting at little stuck in the mud.
It didn’t seem that our park officials were trying to keep up with our own residents when it came to things like the environment.
But this year the park officials surprised me when they hired a group called Osborn Organics.
I don’t know who we should thank for this but my guess is we should thank everyone: all three commissioners and the new superintendent.
But I also think it has taken the new chemistry of some younger officials, namely Frank Cilluffo and Superintendent Jason Marra, to really get the job done.
I’m not saying that commissioners Lincoln and Nachmanoff don’t deserve any credit; they do.
But I’m convinced some of these things wouldn’t have happened so soon if the younger officials had not been so committed to some new ideas.
Of course, Mr. Marra is appointed by the board so we can‘t re-elect him.
But we can show our support for these new directions by reelecting Frank Cilluffo.
He has only been a commissioner for two short years, but he’s worked hard at trying to catch up with the other two commissioners.
Now that the new board and its new superintendent have gotten to know one another, I hope that Frank Cilluffo will be re-elected on December 13th.
The park district’s combination of new and older officials is working  well  for all park residents.
I hope we keep Frank in office.
With luck maybe the board  will  come up with  even more ways to help protect  our environment.
