Readers Write: America is at war from within

The Island Now

A 21-year-old suspect killed at least 20 and injured as many as 26 in El Paso, Texas, at a Walmart on Saturday. Now on Sunday, a gunman killed nine and injured dozens more in Dayton, Ohio.

In Texas, the suspect was motivated by hate of Hispanic people. Some of our young people are troubled mentally and full of hate, anger and prejudice and a desire to kill as many people as they can. White supremacist groups are using this hate on media sites to motivate people to commit these egregious acts to achieve their aims.

America is at war from within from domestic terrorism and more needs to done.  My suggestions are as followers: You see something, say something; more gun control and serious background checks; keep guns away from those who have mental problems; and finally, educate our young people in schools and in homes and teach them we are all brothers and sisters and need to be accepted as such.

We are all members of the same human family and God loves all his children. My heartfelt prayers go out to all who have lost loved ones this year from acts of domestic terrorism. May God help America in our time of need and help our political leaders make the right decisions and make sure these evil acts don’t happen again.
