Readers Write: Adam Block’s background needed on Port board

The Island Now

As a frequent attendee of Port Washington Board of Education meetings, it was surprising to me that a district that claims to be so student-focused would basically abandon students when they need their teachers most.

Everyone knew school closures were coming. Why didn’t Port Washington have a plan?  And from what I hear, there are no guarantees that we are coming back in the fall.  We need someone on the Board that understands these issues.

Adam Block is a public health professor.  He understands the magnitude of the pandemic and will help Port Washington to be prepared for how to handle education as we face our most difficult year so our schools are not blindsided again.
