When Serafina Designs opened its doors in Williston Park, I was so excited.
I hoped that some day there would be another wedding in my family and that’s where I would be getting my dress.
Every day my friend and gym partner Maryann McDermott and I passed the shop on our way back from the gym.
We looked at the beautiful dresses in the window, which seem to change every few days.
We even went in a few times to get a close-up look at the merchandise, elegant dresses for all those special occasions to cocktail attire.
Jewelry, handbags and shoes can put the final touches to the beautiful dress.
Well, the day finally came and my son Paul proposed to his beautiful girlfriend Elena Kwon.
A date was set and we were now in wedding mode.
The first place I went for my mother-of-the-groom dress was Serafina Designs.
By this time I knew Serafina and her daughter Josephine and this is where I would I be purchasing my dress — in their beautiful dress shop.
Little did I know at that time that Serafina’s talent and kindness would play a vital role in making everything so perfect on the wedding day.
Serafina put her magic touch on Elena’s dress, and when Elena’s mother had a problem on the day of the wedding Serafina came to the rescue.
Even the flower girl dresses of my little granddaughters got a little last minute.
I have never had such personal attention and felt such kindness and attention to every detail in the 45 years that I have lived in New York.
The mayor and I believe the saying that “Williston Park is a “special place to visit and a better place to live.”
We encourage shopping locally and feel so fortunate to have such wonderful people as shop owners in our great village.
