READ to hold talk with ‘Amelia’ author

The Island Now

The Foundation for Roslyn’s Educational Advancement and Development (READ) and Sid Jacobson JCC will be co-hosting a conversation with Kimberly McCreight, the author of The New York Times bestseller “Reconstructing Amelia.”

The debut novel (and soon-to-be HBO mini-series starring Nicole Kidman) tells the story of a single mother who is forced to sift through her teenaged daughter’s e-mails, texts and social media in order to piece together the shocking truth about the last days of her life.

McCreight’s book is an extremely timely and relevant look at various hot-button issues such as cyberbullying, catfishing (adopting a fake cyber-identity), emerging sexual identity and the many challenges that working mothers often face.

The event will take place at 11 a.m. at the JCC, located at 300 Forest Drive in East Hills. The fee is $18 for READ credit card holders and JCC members, $25 for non-members.

For more information or to register, please contact Elyse Ingber, JCC director of visual and performance arts at (516) 484-1545 ext. 144 or eingber@sjjcc.org.
