Pumas take second place

The Island Now

The NHP Lady Pumas walked away with a much-deserved second place in the East Fishkill Memorial Weekend Tournament.

The girls played their hearts out in the heat against some super upstate competition.

The defense was led by Mackenzie Griffin (whale of a tournament at center D, trapping and crisp passing), Stephanie Karzczewski (fantastic tracking back on balls and tight passing up the flanks), Theodora Papadoniou (very solid – playing both right and left D, super passing), and Isabel Ugolini (good aggressive running, passing and challenging for the ball).

The midfield was led by Eleni Spiratos (great runs and passing up field, super job forcing the PK in game 2, and some wicked shots on goal), Kira Crehan (some great traps on balls at you, super runs on goal in game 3, overlaps), Sophia Leeds (very nice throw-ins and some super cross field passes in game 1).

The attack was led by Katie Krems (PK goal in game 1, a hat-trick 3-goal effort in game 2, and the almost game tying goal in game 3 called offsides – plus 2 assists), Cara Becker (great back corner shot to score n game 2, super finish off a cross in game 3, and you left every once of energy on the field), Izzy Glennon (game-winning goal in game 1 off a super cross, great assist in game 2 on a killer pass, nice effort despite not feeling well).

In goal was Ellie Eisenberg (super diving on the gall, nice punts and I believe no goals allowed), and Edna Dudek (great punting, good blocks and nice coming out of goal to clear the ball).

Great effort ladies – job well done.

Casey Conners, Casey Sanders and Clare Iriarte – we missed you.
