At the 21st Annual Nassau County Legislature’s Women of Distinction Awards, Presiding Officer Richard Nicolello (R-New Hyde Park) honored Mary Stein, for her many years of dedicated service to the community, charitable causes and those less fortunate.

“Mary is a selfless leader who consistently gives of her time and talent to serve. It is my great privilege to honor Mary as a true Woman of Distinction,” said Nicolello.

Mary Stein is a lifelong resident of New Hyde Park, one of eight children, married to Michael Stein, and has three daughters, Kerianne, Kimberly and Mollie. She is currently employed as District Treasurer of the Herricks School District in New Hyde Park.

Mary Stein’s love for helping others and dedication to community service has led her to many volunteer opportunities and community leadership roles over the years, including serving as Committee member and Treasurer for the Gladiator Fund and as a committee member for the Katie McBride Foundation. For over twenty years, Mary has volunteered as a leader, special events chair, and Treasurer for the Nassau County Girl Scouts and has acted as the Treasurer for her daughter’s travel soccer team. She is also involved with Notre Dame School, founding the CYO Swim Team, and serving as a Committee member, Treasurer, and Event Coordinator for the School Board, Parents Association, After School Program and the Development Committee.
