Thirty-five cases of the coronavirus had been confirmed in the Port Washington area as of 4 p.m. Tuesday, according to county statistics

Four cases have so far been identified in the Village of Sands Point, four in the Village of Manorhaven, one in the Village of Port Washington North, and 10 in the Village of Flower Hill. The other 16 are scattered throughout unincorporated areas of Port Washington.

The Village of Sands Point said its village office is closed to the public, but its various departments will be available through phone and email. A full list of staff emails is available on the village’s website.

Manorhaven, meanwhile, has closed its village hall, according to a message posted on its website Monday and has moved its March session of the Village Court to April 22. Residents are encouraged to “do as much village business as possible via the website” and to drop off any forms or payments through the mail slot at the front door. A staff member will also be monitoring the village’s phones from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. each day.

Port Washington North Village Hall is currently closed to the public, according to a letter posted Sunday from Mayor Robert Weitzner. Those who need to come to Village Hall for permits, services, or assistance are advised to  speak with department staff over the phone at 516-883-5900.

“While we understand that residents may be temporarily inconvenienced by these changes, our top priority is ensuring that each member of this community remains safe and healthy during this time,” Weitzner wrote.

Weitzner added that he would be conducting the March 25 monthly board meeting by video conference. Until further notice, no other meetings will be taking place, including Village Court.

Also closed to the public is Flower Hill Village Hall, effective March 20. The village website said appointments are available at (516) 627-5000.

The village said it is operating with reduced staff and advises those dropping off plans or applications to use the mail slot at the village hall. All future meetings of the Architectural Review Committee, Zoning Board and Board of Trustees are “subject to cancellation or alternative meeting formats.”
