In a fierce competition at the 2018 Bach To Rock Battle of the Bands, 33 bands went head-to-head at City Winery in New York City on Sunday, June 10th. Over 600 proud parents, family members and fans came to support and cheer on students from both Bach To Rock Port Washington and Bach To Rock Mamaroneck.
“The students worked for months to prepare for this tremendous event and I’m incredibly proud of all the performers,” said B2R Director, Elana Hayden. “While this is a competition, the main point is for the kids to have a great experience, to get to perform in a top New York City venue – and to have fun and feel like a rock star!”
Seasoned music industry professionals, Bert Elliot (Bernie Williams, Marcus Miller), Mark Newman (Sam Moore, John Oates) and Amy Madden (Jon Paris, Ricky Byrd) judged the performances. Over 150 students performed on a stage that has hosted Lou Reed, Suzanne Vega, Patti Smith and Buster Poindexter to name a few.
The bands were scored on several criteria including musical ability, technical ability, stage presence, material, creativity, and professionalism. All the competitors study a variety of musical disciplines at Bach to Rock music school on Port Washington Blvd, including music theory, instrument instruction, recording arts, performance arts, voice lessons and band coaching.

Elementary School Division

Runner-Up: Blue Tomorrow – Maya Serrano, Eli Lebow, Kian Marcus, Luke Nichols, John Murphy; The Wolverines –Jayden Doshi, Kirin Doshi, Dylan Miglio, Zoe Afik, Charlotte Walz, Penelope Kurta
Middle School Division
First place: A tie between The Blue Hand – Averie Masia, Anastasia Theodoropoulos, Steven Theodoropoulos, Sadie Muller, Nolan Jennings; and Changing Tides – Matthew Prudenti, Leo Rainone, Matthew Zaromatidis, Quinn Dougherty
Runner-Up: Shock Therapy – Noemi Bolano, Ryan Halley, Max Kabot, Robby Dring, Stefano Rovegno; Rule 5 – Amanda Tepedino, Phaedra Panagiotidis, Lucas Belline, Kieran Fink, Peter Murphy
High School Division
