Nassau County Police are seeking a thief who stole jewelry and coins from a Flower Hill residence last Wednesday while the homeowner was upstairs.

Third Squad detectives said that upon hearing a crash coming from the house’s main level around 10:30 a.m., a 78-year-old Center Drive resident found a sliding glass door had been shattered.

When she looked outside, police said, she saw a white male carrying a sack get into a tan sport utility vehicle that was parked in her driveway and had its motor running.

The vehicle then fled the scene southbound on Center Drive, police said.

The burglar looked to be in his 20s and had light brown hair, police said. He was dressed in all black.

The woman later found that jewelry and coins had been stolen from the property.

No injuries were reported from the scene, police said.

Police have requested that anyone with information related to the burglary contact the Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS.
