Police make arrest, find stolen credit card

Bill San Antonio

A man arrested in Old Brookville on Saturday was found to be in possession of a wallet, credit cards and personal papers belonging to a Roslyn woman who reported the items as stolen earlier in the day, police said.

Police recovered the items during an investigation of John Shute, 40, who Second Squad officers said stole a Chevrolet Suburban parked at the Brookville farms horse-care facility and fled southbound along Route 107.

Village of Old Brookville police later stopped and arrested Shute, whose address was not immediately released.

Police said Shute used a stolen credit card from the Roslyn woman to purchase several items from an area gas station.

Shute was charged with counts of forgery, grand larceny, criminal possession of stolen property, criminal mischief, identity theft and aggravated driving without a license. He was arraigned at First District Court in Hempstead on Saturday.
