Weather permitting, parts of the Barstow Road roundabout in the Village of Great Neck Plaza will be closed on Saturday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. to allow for workers with the village Department of Public Works to repaint pavement markings.
The work was scheduled for last Saturday but was postponed due to rain, Village of Great Neck Plaza Mayor Jean Celender said.
“As good weather is needed to allow for the painted markings to dry, work will take place when the required optimal weather is forecasted for the Saturday selected to carry out this work,” Celender said.
During the repainting, which is expected to take place from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., Barstow Road from South Middle Neck Road to North Station Plaza, South Station Plaza from Middle Neck Road to Barstow Road and Welwyn Road from Barstow Road to the Post office at 2 Welwyn Road will be closed off to drivers.
“Appropriate signage will be placed at the locations of the road closures to indicate alternate routes for drivers,” Celender said.
A village spokesman called the repainting of the pavement markings “routine maintenance.”
