NHP Wildcats: Panthers score 8-3 victory over Cougars

PANTHERS (Coaches: Rob Honovic and Boris Ribaric)

The Panthers came away with their first win of the season, defeating the Cougars, 8-3. Jackson Bigeni again led the Panthers by scoring a pair of hat tricks for a total of six goals. Matthew Ribaric chipped in with two goals and made several key saves during the first half in goal.  Aidan McNeely finished the game in goal, making some big saves for the team.  Liam Dempsey anchored the defense with great stops along with Clayton Wong and Alexander Cheung.  Sherwin Fernandes, Devan Shah, Thomas Honovic and Lukas Rinaldi all showed their hustle, creating many scoring chances for the team.  The Panthers are really starting to gel and are looking forward to their next game.  

COUGARS (Coaches: Scott Liewehr and David Viegas)

The Cougars lost a tough one to the Panthers on Saturday, 3-8. The team got off to a slow start, falling behind 0-3 within the first five minutes of the game, but they rallied to make quite a comeback before the eventual defeat. Although short-handed by four players, the team fought hard and received great offense by Chris Rodgers, who scored a hat trick, and newcomer Simon Thomas. Nico Liewehr turned in some great midfield play and both Lucas Viegas and Darsh Mirchandani made key stops on defense. The goaltenders faced fierce Panthers offense, but Ewan Zehnter and Ethan Moy showed extreme toughness. The Cougars are 1-2 on the season.

BOBCATS (Coach: Chris Bernic)

The third game of the season started off as a defensive battle with neither team scoring a goal in the first half.  The Bobcats showed their grit with great defensive play from Neel Khurana, Om Thakur and Austin Lee. In the second half, the Bobcats pushed forward to take the lead with Kaleb Dyasi scoring three goals.  He was helped by excellent play in the midfield by Albert Kuo and Hamza Ghani.  All the boys kept up the defensive intensity and held the Fighting Tigers scoreless in the second half on their way to a 3-0 win.  It was a tough match, but the Bobcats pulled through for their first win of the season.

JAGUARS (Coaches: Sandra Griffin and Kieran Griffin) 

The Jaguars beat the Lions, 4-0. The team played a very balanced game despite missing a few players. Eamon Griffin, Harry Acosta, and Zain Begawala all tallied goals. Nicholas Peters and Dale Dellolacono played well both offensively and defensively. The Jaguars are undefeated on the season at 3-0.
