Online poetry night with Jaylene Clark Owens

Award-winning Poet/Actress Jaylene Clark Owens will host a Great Neck Library Levels’ Poetry Workshop online for teens in grades 7+.

Join us for an online poetry workshop for teens in grades 7+, hosted by award-winning poet and actress, Jaylene Clark Owens on Saturday, April 10 at 6:00 p.m.

This is a Levels event, the Great Neck Library’s cultural center for teens, coordinated by Jonelle Robinson. Jaylene Clark Owens is an AUDELCO and Barrymore award-winning actress, as well as a highly acclaimed spoken word poet, from Harlem, NY. She is the author of AfroPoetic, her debut collection of poetry.  Mrs. Owens is also a teaching artist and has taught several poetry writing workshops with students ranging from second grade to adults.

She received her BFA from Ithaca College, where she founded, and led, the spoken word organization, Spit That! In 2012 she won first place in the Apollo Theater Amateur Night contest for her poem, “SoHa.”
