Reader’s Write: Obamacare creates big mess, offers little gain

The Island Now

Rejoice all you Democrats. Liberals and Occupy Wall Streeters are ecstatic.

President Obama has given us his government-run health care. He promised lower premiums, lower healthcare costs and we could keep our old plan and doctor. What happened?

In order to cover the 35 million uninsured (less than 10 percent of the entire population), he turned our whole health-care system upside down.

Everyone under the federal poverty level was covered by Medicaid. Over 65 and you had your Medicare.

Some of you had your own insurance and others had it paid by your employer. A few chose not to have any insurance at all! But still, over 90 percent were covered!

A simple question? Why didn’t he just offer those in need, a private health-care voucher which excluded any pre-existing conditions? But that’s a Republican idea and no Liberal would ever agree to that. The truth is that covering the uninsured was his secondary goal. From the beginning, socialized medicine was what he always wanted.

1 – Under Obamacare, the government’s Department  of Health and Human Services, with the IRS as their enforcer, now runs our entire healthcare system.

2 – The government will now pay for most  healthcare benefits. (Medicaid, Medicare, civil service employees, military, food stamps, unemployment, welfare, and disability benefits.)

3 – The government now dictates which healthcare plan you must have.

4 – The government now tells you which doctor must treat you.

5 – The government tells your doctor how to practice medicine.

6 – The government now determines all your doctor’s fees.

Come on, be honest! Isn’t that socialized medicine?

But, President Obama still has two major hurdles:

1 – he has to finally get rid of those private insurance companies, and

2 – Medicaid must be enlarged to cover as many people as possible. Obama’s solution? Being a college professor and a community organizer who has never worked in the private sector, his solution is quite predictable. It’s called Medicaid Expansion. With one signature, (forget about going to Congress and following our constitution) he raised the Medicaid poverty level eligibility to 138 perecent and now we have taxpayer-funded healthcare for every family of four earning up to $24,550.

What will he do about those annoying private insurance companies? Easy!

1 – He just raises the cost of private health insurance by including a mandatory list of “upgraded” benefits. That way, fewer and fewer people can afford these private plans.

2 – His new website makes it difficult to enroll, unless  of course, you are eligible for his subsidy.

3 – By raising the income requirement,  many more people will now be eligible for Medicaid.

4 – To provide more doctors to treat these newly covered patients, he will force every doctor to accept Medicaid and Medicare patients, even with its extremely low reimbursement rates. (see the Virginia proposal)

5 – He and his media cohorts, will demonizes anyone who disagrees with him.  And

6 – He lies (what else would you call It?) about anything critical of his plan.  “You can keep your own doctor”. Medicaid for every family making less than $24,550 and Medicare for everyone else.

Now, how will he pay for it? Easy!

1 – He just raises your taxes or adds  on new fees or penalties to cover it.

2 – When that’s not enough, he will increase the debt limit and borrow some more to pay for it. And when all else fails,

3 – he will print some more money and watch its value diminish in an inflationary spiral.

Prove it? OK: Gov, Cuomo announced that so far, 37,000 New Yorkers have signed up for health insurance.

Two-thirds of them enrolled in Medicaid. And why not? It’s not costing them anything ! Only 13,313 bought private  insurance. See what I mean!

The U.S. has won more Nobel Prizes in Medicine than all the other countries combined. Democrats have chosen to radically alter the greatest healthcare system on the planet.  Progressives, you better be careful what you pray for.
