More than 65,000 Americans develop new cases of head and neck cancers each year. Many types are considered preventable. The best way to determine your risk is to see a doctor.

Head and neck cancers can affect the tongue, mouth, lips, throat, voice box, nose and salivary glands. Early symptoms of these cancers include sores, lumps or red/dark patches inside the mouth.
