Northwell gets Irish partner

The Island Now

A partnership agreement between Northwell Health and Enterprise Ireland was recently signed in the presence of An Taoiseach Enda Kenny in New York during his visit to the United States.
Michael J. Dowling, president and chief exeucitve officer, Northwell Health, and Kevin Sherry, executive director, business development Enterprise Ireland, signed the agreement in the Irish Consulate in New York.
“Northwell has a long history of promoting innovation and improving health care — pairing with like-minded organizations is an integral part of that effort, and we look forward to a continued fruitful relationship with Enterprise Ireland,” Dowling said.
The Northwell partnership is a market-led initiative steered by Enterprise, Ireland to allow Irish companies immediate access at an early stage to key market leaders in the United States, according to a press release from Northwell Health.
As a result, companies will have access to clinicians and decision makers in a major health network, which will provide insights in the products and services that are required in the market in the future.
“There has been a highly active and productive engagement between Enterprise Ireland and Northwell Health over the last two years and this relationship has been very beneficial to Irish companies looking to gain a deeper understanding and access to the United States health system,” Sherry said.
The partnership will also give Enterprise Ireland clients the opportunity to work with Northwell Health to build capability in their business and learn how hospital procurement processes work in the United States.
In turn, Northwell will work with Enterprise Ireland and their clients to develop and commercialize new medical technologies, secure joint ventures and provide platforms to integrate with United States health care companies.
“The agreement between Northwell Health and Enterprise Ireland is highly significant — the partnership will give Irish medical technologies and health care companies the opportunity to supply innovative products and services to one of the leading health care providers in the United States,” Kenny said.
