North Middle students share thanks with Monter Center staff

The Island Now

On Nov. 21, seventh and eighth-grade representatives from the North Middle School Relay for Life Club visited the Northwell Health Monter Cancer Center in New Hyde Park to distribute “thank you” messages to staff.

In the weeks leading up to their visit to the Monter Cancer Center, members of the Relay for Life Club encouraged their peers at North Middle to write messages to express their appreciation for the medical staff and support staff who care for cancer patients. North Middle students created a total of 1,000 hand-written cards during their lunch periods to distribute to Monter Cancer Center staff.

The North Middle Relay for Life Club advisors are Kimberley Bliss and Lisa DeModna. Great Neck’s middle schools support the American Cancer Society Relay for Life every year through various educational programs and fundraisers. The Relay for Life and associated programs raise awareness, funds, and support for the fight against cancer.
