The Village of New Hyde Park isn’t ready for its prime-time cameo yet.

But Floral Park’s Village Hall will have its 15 minutes of fame this fall after New Hyde Park officials recently spurned an offer from CBS to shoot a segment of the prime-time dramatic series “The Good Wife” in Village Hall.

At a recent village board meeting, New Hyde Park Mayor Daniel Petruccio said the village board had rejected an overture from CBS Productions to film a segment of the series because of concerns about its impact on village business.

“We can’t really disrupt business operations for filming. For now the answer is ‘No’,” Petruccio said. “There goes our shot for fame.”

CBS wanted to film part of one series episode in the village courtroom on June 27 and 28 from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. each day.

CBS sent a scout locator earlier on the same day of the village board meeting on June 19 to make an inquiry about the courtroom’s availability, a source said. CBS subsequently sent an e-mail request that resulted in the rejection.

CBS subsequently approached officials in Floral Park and filmed the segment for the show there.

The network apparently made the same pitch to Floral Park officials, who accepted the offer, according to Susan Walsh, Floral Park village clerk.

A film crew for “The Good Wife” spent three days on location in Floral Park from June 27 through 29, setting up the first day, shooting the exterior of the Village Hall and a scene in the Village Hall courtroom the second day and breaking down their equipment the third day, Walsh said.

“They used the front of our building and renamed our sign,” Walsh said.

Floral Park Village Hall will appear as the Madison County Courtroom in the first episode of “The Good Wife” this fall.
