NHP resident scares intruder

A homeowner scared away an intruder in a New Hyde Park house early Wednesday morning.

Nassau County Police said an intruder entered a home at 1503 Falmouth Ave. in the early hours of Sept. 5. A man asleep on the first floor of the house awoke and screamed as he saw a figure walking through the unlit house at 12:38 a.m.. The intruder immediately fled from the house, police said.

Third Precinct police who responded to the scene found no evidence of forced entry and concluded the intruder had entered the house through an unlocked door.

Third Precinct police responded to the scene and searched the area but found no one in the vicinity.

There was nothing stolen from the house. Police said there have been no other break-ins.
