NHP gains 3 come-from-behind victories

New Hyde Park capped off a great weekend with their third come-from-behind win, going 4-0 over the weekend to move into first place in the tough NJBL softball league with a 6-0 record. 

In game one Melissa Ward struck out nine in a complete game win. 

Brianna Castro led off with a solid single and scored the first run of the game. Ward had three hits and three runs to pace the offense. 

Sophia Jacoby had two hits and thee runs. Nicole Kuzler went 3 for 3 and played solid at third base all weekend. 

Irene Krische singled in a four-run second inning. 

In game two NHP was down 4-0 before putting up five runs in the 4th inning. 

Hannah Arkin started the rally with a single and Gabby Morales capped off the inning with a long two-run double. 

After the Panthers took the lead in the fifth, the New Hyde Park girls put them away with a six-run fifth inning. 

Maddie Alamandy led off with a walk. Emma Nidermaier, coming late from soccer, pinch ran and promptly stole second. Arkin singled again, Maggie Donnelly walked and Ward put NHP up for good with a run scoring single. 

Ann Grimshaw also arrived late, but just in time to pinch hit and complete the scoring for NHP with a solid single to center, scoring Nidermaier who bunted her way on. 

Donnelly had two singles and two walks in the game. Donnelly also picked off runners at third and first while catching. 

Dani Giordano had a single and a run scored while picking up the win with five terrific innings of relief pitching.
